Silaka Nature Reserve

Silaka lies in a forested valley only 7km south of Port St Johns. A small but beautiful coastal reserve, Silaka stretches from Second Beach to Sugarloaf Rock, covering 400ha. The Gxwaleni River flows through the reserve and forms an estuary, which enters the sea at the beautiful main beach. This exquisite reserve comprises grassland, a dramatic piece of coastline and a magnificent indigenous coastal forest with huge trees, offering a pristine coastal setting and exceptional bird-watching.

Fort Fordyce Nature Reserve

Lying roughly between Fort Beaufort and Adelaide, Fort Fordyce is situated on the Amatola escarpment with magnificent views of the Hogsback and Katberg mountains.
The area is of great cultural and historical significance. Evidence of the earliest inhabitants of the area, the San, is found in the fine examples of rock paintings discovered within the reserve.

Dwesa Nature Reserve

Rich in biodiversity

Dwesa is the ideal destination for the person who wants to spend a holiday in nature away from the madding crowds.

As part of your activities, you can go with a community guide on nature walks, 4x2 and 4x4 trips (own vehicle) or a boat trip over the Mbashe River to Cwebe and afterwards enjoy a meal or a drink in the Haven Hotel.

A wonderful, clean and desolate beach awaits you if you want to work on a great tan or just take a nap under your umbrella.
