Tsolwana Nature Reserve
Situated approximately 60km west of Queenstown and 30km south-east of Tarkastad, Tsolwana Nature Reserve is nestled on the edge of the Winterberg range. A mountainous area, with grass plains and acacia thornveld, Tsolwana is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora. Tsolwana Nature Reserve, 8 500ha in size, marks the start of the Karoo plains. The name “Tsolwana” is derived from the Xhosa word “Spike” as it is characterised by a prominent hill within the reserve.

From Queenstown to Tsolwana Nature Reserve (approx 1h40min drive time)
Drive along R61
1. Head west toward Mzimvubu Rd (400m)
2. Turn left onto Mzimvubu Rd (650m)
3. Turn right onto Royganna Rd (3.9km)
4. Turn left onto R392 (4.1km)
5. Continue straight onto Livingstone St (1.3km)
6. Turn left onto Kingsway Ave (280m)
7. Turn right onto Alexandra Rd (400m)
8.Turn right onto Tylden St (220m)
9. Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto Green St (140m)
10. Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Cathcart St/N6/R61 (260m)
11.At roundabout, take 1st exit onto R61 (1.8km)
12. At roundabout, take 2nd exit and stay on R61 (21.6km)
13. Turn left (7.2km)
14.Turn right (24.8km)
15. Turn right (4.8km)
16. Turn left (12.4km)
